Tezz Movie Review

After giving us series of baseless comic entertainers, Priyadarshan moves to an action thriller ‘Tezz’, a film that had high expectations considering an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor,
Ajay Devgn, Kangna Ranaut, Sameera Reddy, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and Mohanlal. But alas, the film fails to create an impact. Read on to find out.

Story:

Aakash Rana (Ajay Devgn), an Indian citizen moves to UK, marries Nikita. He has applied for citizenship, but does not have papers to work in the country and so is thrown out. He comes back to take revenge with the help of two of his supporters Megha (Sameera Reddy) and Aadil Khan (Zayed Khan) both living in UK and working without permit. Together, they plant a bomb on a train and demand the authorities an humongous sum that is sufficient for the rest of their life. Enters, Arjun Khanna (Anil Kapoor) who is put on to this last project before his retirement, to find the Train Bomber. And then the chase begins.

Analysis:

There is no novelty that you will find in the basic plot of the film. The chase sequences too do not make much impact. They feel too made up and as expected the film does not give an international feel. You will definitely feel deceived. The only thing worth watching in the film is Sameera Reddy and an afterthought of adding Mallika Sherawat’s ‘Laila’.

Performances:

Ajay Devgn is his usual best while Anil Kapoor impresses. The actor gives his soul to the film. Zayed Khan cannot act. Kangna Ranaut plays a cameo and is alright. Sameera Reddy truly impresses. She looks good and emotes well. Boman Irani is the one to look out for in the film. He does his best. Mohanlal too is good with very little to perform.

Technicalities:

Though, the stunt master is the same who has done stunts for Bourne Identity, the stunts in ‘Tezz’ fail to make an impression. Though a few of them are good, most look fake. Some dialogues instead of making the audience emotional, create giggles but some because of the actors have sufficed their goal. Priyan Sir’s direction is decent if not exceptional. The music of the film is okay too while the background score is good. Cinematography is what lets the other aspects down too.

Plus points: Sameera, Anil, Laila, Boman

Minus Points: too high expectations, story, screenplay, cinematography

Final Word: Laila, Boman and Sameera can make you sit through it.
